Delicious Decimals
If you’re looking to incorporate candy into your math class to give your students a fun treat, this activity is perfect!
Your students will be given a cup of Skittles. With their cup, they will sort and count each color Skittle and then record and graph their counts for each color. From here, they will have to complete several operations with their Skittle counts.
They will get practice with multiplying decimals, comparing decimals, multiplying and dividing decimals by powers of 10, adding and subtracting decimals, and writing decimals in standard, word, and expanded form.
This activity is a hit in my classroom year after year!
I hope you and your class have a happy and fun Halloween!
